Your wardrobe changes with the seasons, and your skin routine should, at least slightly, change too. What feels perfect in humid summer can feel heavy in cold, dry months – and vice versa.
In summer, sweat and oil production usually increase. Lightweight, non-greasy moisturisers and gel textures tend to work better. Sunscreen becomes even more crucial if you’re outdoors often. You might need a more thorough evening cleanse to remove sweat, sunscreen, and pollution.
Winter brings dryness and roughness for many people. Heavier creams, balms, and hydrating serums help keep your barrier intact. Hot showers and indoor heating both dry out the skin, so shorter, lukewarm showers and immediate moisturising afterwards are smart habits.
The core steps remain similar – cleanse, moisturise, protect – but the textures and frequency shift. Acne-prone skin may need less intense exfoliation in winter, while very dry skin may need extra layers of hydration.
Instead of copying someone else’s routine year-round, pay attention to how your own skin feels: tight, oily, itchy, or comfortable. Your products should respond to those signals, not fight them.
